I don't know if our house scale is accurate or not, but it claims I lost 26lbs....... will have to check that on another one somewhere else.

Artificial Sweeteners = very very bad! You would honestly be better off with sugar.

Have any of you tried/heard of Stevia? It's a "dietary supplement" (as it is not allowed to be used as a "sweetener" due to ridiculous laws and the money sugar makes for the government. It has ZERO calories! It does taste more like an artificial sweetener than real sugar, but it's much better for you.

We haven't cut sugar completely but I got things like sugar-free puddings for snacks and sugar-free syrup and pancake mix, things like that.

Yeah, but the American Diabetes Association lists them as one of the diabetes "superfoods".

26lbs could totally be right even if your scale is off a bit. that is if you used the same scale the whole time.

i know that mine is all jacked up, but i know that it when it says i have lost a pound i have lost a pound

ditch the sugar free syrup, its just corn syrup and flavor. Get some high grade real maple, usually organic is the best way to go, it is more concentrated and you need less.

I used to grow stevia. It is definitely sweet, although it is much different than sugar in taste. My wife hates the taste, but I don't think it's bad.

I never trust the scales these days, with less than a 3 day difference the drs scale can have me at 15lbs more, very frustrating.

For syrup, you can try Agave Nectar. It's very good!

As a snack, I take a banana, drizzle some agave nectar and some coconut on top. It's delicious

This is one that The American Diabetes Association sponsors. I have thought about checking out how bad/good honey is as a substitute. We live it the country so half of our neighbors have fresh honey but I haven't checked it out yet.

I don't even own a scale which is why I've been basing off measurement only.

I like agave too. It has a nice taste - better than stevia, in my opinion.

I had some other ideas that were either suggested to me, and one that I kind of am changing a little from a previous contest!

Idea 1: Anyone who is trying to change their lifestyle, and basically just starting, we'd really love to feature your journey on the ELH Blog! Emotional changes, physical changes, dietary changes... Or if you're trying to quit smoking, this would be a great one as well. For every post you write, there's a $10 EF Gift Card. One post per week, per participant.

Idea 2: A recipe exchange. Only a little different. Everyone who is interested, please message me your name and address and a favorite recipe. I will mail (as in to your house, personal mail from your FAVORITE EF DIVA *looks around innocently*) a recipe card. Everyone will get the same recipes. We can do this ongoing for months. Then everyone who participates writes up a little review of the recipe including any modifications they made to it. These will also be featured on the blog.

Ideas? Volunteers?

If you're concerned with your personal information, I am, because of Social Media Ambassador Team, completely contracted to not disclose any information. So you can rest assured that the secret of your identity dies with me.

For those of you that mentioned Lemon in water. This is actually very good for you, but adding sugar to it changes that. Lemon water is alkalizing when consumed, while adding sugar to it acidifies it.

It doesn't taste as good with just lemon, but drinking a glass of water with (fresh) lemon juice in it half an hour before a meal will make you feel full with less food. It can also help settle an upset stomach, or relieve hunger for a short period when there are no healthy snacks around.

Unless the foot of your scale broke off when your child was jumping on it.

Not that I'd know ANYTHING about that.

Honey is a better substitute than any chemical, zero-calorie 'sweetener' offered. You just need to make sure you limit the amount you use. Part of the adjustment is growing used to foods that are less sweet. Part of the problem is that much of our processed food has tons of sugar/salt, so our perceptions of taste are skewed.

One more thing about lemon water - it is damaging for your teeth unfortunately. You should brush your teeth after drinking it BUT not too soon after. Allow time for your saliva to rinse most of it off your teeth before brushing, the combination of lemon & toothpaste can severely damage your tooth enamel.
