Hey you guys!
So, I was sitting around trying to think of ways to give you guys more control over what goes on in EdenKink. Despite the topic polls, I feel like a big ol' dictator running all the meetings, and calling all the shots. This isn't my club, it's our club. And I want to be sure it feels that way for you guys too.
The first idea I have is guest hosts. A guest host differs from a guest speaker in that the speaker's focus is discussing their opinion and experience, while the host's focus is keeping the conversational ball rolling. A discussion with a guest speaker is centered around the speaker, while a discussion run by a host is centered around the topic.
Guest hosts can host discussion nights or workshops. Discussion nights only require an abstract knowledge of the topic, since they're meant to be a time for everyone to express their own opinion. Workshops, however, require a direct knowledge of the topic, since they're meant to be instructions.
I'm torn on how, exactly, to handle the rest, so I'll leave that up to you. We can continue to do topic polls for discussion nights, or we can let the guest host choose what they'd like to talk about.
As for workshops, they'll be on a voluntary basis, for now, until I get to know you guys a little better, and learn what you're proficient in. Feel free to email me (rayne-AT-edenfantasys -DOT-com) if you've got an idea for a workshop you'd like to run.
What do you guys think? Would you want to guest host? Leave any thoughts you have here, or email me with them, and drop me a line if you're interested in guest hosting a meeting. Thanks!
