Aw, thanks for such a cool post. This movie is one I always put on after a few dates

But really, I love it more than just as a tool for BDSM discussion with prospective mates. The movie speaks to me because I was a cutter, and was a shy awkward adolescent...didn't understand my fantasies...it felt like the story of my life.

The scene towards the end with the modified song by Liz....I forget her name now, grr...was amazing, just amazing. I am not a huge softy but I tear up even thinking about it.

Fyi, Secretary is based on a shorty story by Mary Gaitskill from her collection, "Bad Behavior. It's very different from the movie in a lot of ways and yet, you can see how they just expanded on the outline they got from the short story. In general, the whole collection is full of kinky sex & perversion & whatnot. It's generally excellent and an interesting look at the human psyche, especially those a little lost or messed up, etc.

A friend recommended this to me in high school, I was about seventeen and struggling with self injury as well. This movie totally opened my eyes to something I wasn't entirely aware of and I really loved it. It was probably the sexiest movie I had ever seen at that age, well other than a hentai I rented by mistake when I was about fourteen.

I saw this movie a couple months ago and I can't say I really liked it that much. I'm definitely not into the idea of having to sit in an office until you pee yourself and almost faint from exhaustion. I do see how others would like it though.

I watched this movie once I found out James Spader is in it. I do not seem to like it as much as you all do.
What killed it for me was the inappropriate relationship they were having, him being her employer and all.

I've not seen it, but the scene linked by itself is a turn off to me. It seems coercive, and sexual harassment-y... I need my coercion to have negotiation in advance or it just squicks me right the hell out.
