This is very interesting to me. Nice to see what other people like.

The D Ring holds the O ring in such a way that when it falls off the collar, it is in a flatter position, if that makes sense to you. D-rings typically are useful because they lay flat against the skin, so they are more comfortable than an O ring if something is skin tight. I usually see D rings on leather collars or other materials on their own, and they provide a place for the O ring to hang off of.

Can I ask what difference an O ring versus a D ring makes with collars? I've never put much thought into it before, so it seems interesting to me that your collar would have both.

When you attach restraints to someone, you usually attach it to their O ring. Though, it varies between restraints.

Oh yes. Non-verbal communication is a big thing for me. Honestly, I'm so good at reading the body language of real animals and mimicking it, that people I know swear I can talk to them. (which is sorta what I'm doing, really. It confuses everyone when I translate for my cat.)

That is cute. I like how your husband uses a collar to put on you when it's OK for you to be a pet. It's a good symbol.

I almost hate going into Pet Co anymore, because I want everything in the toy's section! lol.

I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question, but AndroAngel mentioned walking on two legs while in pet mode,do you walk on two legs or crawl on four when in kitty mode?
01/26/2012
Another question for those of you who are into pet play already:
How do you usually go about getting things started? Which one of you decides it is time for pet play? I always love hearing how other relationships do things.

Thanks. The collar thing works well because we don't have a strict D/s or Master/slave relationship. I tend to identify as a switch. But it works to separate our pet play and keep me as a sub in those situations. I totally have a hard time. Especially because I get a discount and know when things go on sale.

Everyone does things differently, but I am only allowed to crawl in pet mode. I actually crawl around the house a lot anyway. Pet mode, or not.

Sometimes Master will have me kneel or sit in pet beds right in the pet store to "test them out" before we buy them. If he likes one, we buy it, but there's always the inevitable one or two people who walk buy and think we're horsing around. Nope. Not horsing. Kitty-ing. lol.

I mew or meow and if he does it back it's kind of a go ahead. If I nip or bat at him and he plays along he'll either get my collar or tell me it's ok and pet me. Usually I'm the one to initiate. Sometimes he'll just start petting me and I'll slip into a pet mode and he'll stop petting or playing if he doesn't want to continue our play. But same as most people, if things get sexual I stop in pet mode immediately.

RVK, is there anything you and your owner do that you've never heard of anyone else doing with regard to pet play? Or maybe something you heard of that you guys would never try? Aside from separating sex and impact play from pet play.

I think the grooming is something that Master and me do that I've never *heard* other people saying that they do. I'm sure that others do it, but I haven't heard of it like Master and me.
Master will gag me, put my kitty mittens on, and buckle wrist cuffs on over them so I can't get them off (not that I'd try!). Then, he'll usually put my kitty ears on and cuff my ankles, and then cuff me in an awkward position. (For example, with my wrists and feet clipped together in front, though is changes.) Then he will shave the back of my head, rub my paws, clean my ears, clip all my nails, and generally do the same things he does for our regular cats.
I don't think there are things others do that we wouldn't, truthfully. There's a lot out there, and while there are some things which may not appeal to us at the moment, our tastes change. In the beginning of our relationship, I don't think either of us thought we'd be doing the things we do now!

For someone who doesn't act as a cat or dog, what special animal behaviors do you exhibit in your chosen animal mindsets? Anyone here into ponyplay?

We do pony play! I actually had the opportunity for the first time this past July to pull Master around in a cart! Carts are expensive and bulky, so we don't own one, but there was one at a local kink convention. It was awesome.

I tend to do more show than riding pony things, because of my bum wrist, but I was initially trained as a riding pony.
