EdenGivesBack: A Thanksgiving Family has been Adopted!

Contributor: Kayla Kayla
Last year, I had a fantastic time helping out the EdenGivesBack community by helping out a local women's shelter, and when I found out we'd be doing the same programs this year for the Holidays, I contacted them again. It turns out that, while they don't have a specific Adopt-A-Family program for Thanksgiving, they helped me come up with other ideas.

Instead of sponsoring one family, we'll be sponsoring the whole shelter! The shelter has never had the funds nor donations to actually hold a full Thanksgiving meal for the women staying there, so we'll be bringing in food that will allow all of those who do not have family to have a yummy Thanksgiving dinner! This is a shelter for women who have left abusive homes, so in many cases, friends and family the women (and children) used to have are not available to them anymore, so this may be the only choice that many of these families have to get a Thanksgiving dinner.

I'll be purchasing Thanksgiving-food materials that are easy-to-make for the shelter women and children to make for Thanksgiving to eat. I've been told that the children really love those Rice Krispy bars, so I'm sure I'm going to bring in a ton of those too! Not only that, but if I have any funds left over after that, I'll be bringing in non-perishable items to help the shelter provide food to the women and children throughout the rest of the year too.

Please help me in supporting my local women's shelter as these brave families already lost enough when they left their homes - I don't want them to lose their Holidays too. Thank you so much for everything you choose to donate, and I'm really looking forward to helping all of those families have the best Thanksgiving possible.

Tomorrow is your last day to donate, so if you plan on donating to help this cause, please donate today!

Thank you for doing this, Kayla. This sounds like a fantastic idea. For years I donated baby clothes and maternity clothes to a local shelter, they need everything! Some of these women leave home with literally often nothing more than the clothes on their backs.

I sent Sam my donation either yesterday or the day before.

Aw, thank you for volunteering to provide these women and children the means for a Thanksgiving filled with plenty of yummy food and love! Now they will be able to enjoy the day and (hopefully) forget their worries, fears, and heartbreak for a while. THAT'S something to be thankful for!
