I remember my teacher saying something similar to that especially the scuba scene where you can't really hear clearly what his parents are saying.

the shot at the end in the bus, perfection! they are both so happy, then they realize they dont really have much of a connection apart from both being pushed into something they didn't want.

Choices for this month! Honestly, this is probably one of the craziest parts of running this club! Finding movies that seem interesting and fun for a wide variety of people! These movies really called out to me, and I hope one of them interests you. I’m going to go ahead and include the synopsis from Netflix on them so you don’t have to go back and forth!

Indie:

Multiple Sarcasms: In 1979, architect Gabriel (Timothy Hutton) begins questioning his existence, avoiding work and escaping into the fictional world of movies. When he starts writing a play examining the choices he's made, it creates issues with his wife (Dana Delany), daughter (India Ennenga) and friends. Meanwhile, he tries to convince a brassy literary agent (Stockard Channing) to represent him and confides in his best friend (Mira Sorvino) in this indie drama.

Howl: James Franco steps into the shoes of famed Beat poet Allen Ginsberg in this star-studded biopic centered around Ginsberg's poem "Howl" -- and the widely publicized obscenity trial that followed its publication in 1957. Documentarians Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (The Times of Harvey Milk) direct, with an A-list ensemble cast that includes Jon Hamm, David Strathairn, Jeff Daniels and Mary-Louise Parker.

Mainstream:

Unthinkable: When the government gets wind of a plot to destroy America involving a trio of nuclear weapons, locations unknown, it's up to a seasoned interrogator (Samuel L. Jackson) and an FBI agent (Carrie-Anne Moss) to find out exactly where they are. A suspected terrorist who's already in custody is their only chance for a timely answer. But what will it take to get him to talk? Michael Sheen, Brandon Routh and Martin Donovan co-star.

I realize this next choice is very niche, but my reason for choosing it as an option is because Part 2 comes out next month and if we choose THIS film as our Flick, it’d be neat to choose Part 2 next month and go to the theaters!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1: The first installment of the two-part conclusion to the Harry Potter series finds the bespectacled wizard (Daniel Radcliffe) walking away from his last year at Hogwarts to find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes, putting an end to Voldemort's bid for immortality. But with Harry's beloved Dumbledore dead and Voldemort's unscrupulous Death Eaters on the loose, the world is more dangerous than ever.

I am incredibly sick of it. I prefer "classic" movies where they actually had to put meaning in films and not rely on fancy visuals to sell tickets. My family, however, does not share in my tastes and feed into all the stupid, "cool" explosion type movies. Ugh.

We had an argument once when I asked them if they saw Dark Knight. I thought it was amazingly done. Amazing. And my mom said, "I don't like those kinds of movies."

"What? No, it's so much better than the old batman movies. It far surpasses them all put together. Those were just silly super-hero movies."

"No, I don't like any of those kinds of movies. They're stupid and a waste of money."

"And yet you think The Hulk, Hellboy, X-men, and Iron Man were artistic masterpieces?"

UGH!

I love bio pics and James Franco, so I choose Howl

My vote is for "Multiple Sarcasms". How can a movie with that kind of title be wrong?

And I refuse to watch the Harry Potter one cause I've finally decided that I'd read the books (when I have time) and I don't want to watch anything until after the books.

I thought the Dark Knight was done incredibly well too.

And I'm with you with the older movies where they had to work to get you to be interested. I've had such a blast watching old black and white's with my husband because they move a little slower, are easy to follow, and rely solely on the acting abilities of the actors and the writing of the script.

I like those types of movies, but FOR the brainless "oooh, pretty" aspect. It's what I watch when I want to watch something to numb my brain for a while.

Avatar blue people? Or Avatar Last Airbender? Because for Airbender... you just want to watch the cartoon... the movie is crap.

Okay, so I have one vote for Howl, one for Multiple Sarcasms, and one for Harry Potter.

I have no preference... so someone else or two cast a vote!
