Britain's National Pig Association has said there will be a pork shortage next year due to rising feed cost. Some news sites say that the NPA exaggerating a bit, but prices will go up. Will this affect your pork consumption?
Will you eat less pork next year?

Maybe.

I don't eat much pork to begin with. I prefer turkey, beef, fish or chicken.

My boyfriend doesn't like much pork save for bacon so we rarely have it, but I think we will still have it when we can.
09/27/2012
We don't eat it enough for the price increase to matter much - however restaurants may have a tough time recouping the increase. But all meat prices will go up because of the drought - cattle and chickens eat corn as well.

I love, Love, LOVE bacon!!!

I've been vegetarian since I was young and my family is (at least half of them are) Jewish, I've never eaten pork before. I don't ever plan to either, it's not really appealing, so I really don't care if pork gets more expensive

I barely eat pork as it is. Now, if something happens to all the chickens, then I might be screwed.
09/27/2012
It depends. Pork isn't something I eat often anyhow.
09/27/2012
We rarely eat actual pork. We sometimes have pork chops and bacon. Usually we only have bacon if we go to a restaurant. At home we always eat turkey bacon.
09/27/2012
I'll grumble about the cost but I can't live without my bacon sandwich each week.
09/27/2012
Probably not but if the price skyrockets we will cut back
09/27/2012
I usually don't eat pork. No special reason, I just don't. Every now and then we eat bacon, but not too often. Maybe a little bit every two weeks?
09/27/2012
I'm not a huge fan of pork so can't imagine it'll change my eating habits.
09/27/2012
Depends how much, but I gotta have my bacon too...it will have to really go up to deter me, but I tend to buy things on sale only anyhow.
09/27/2012
We don't eat a lot of pork, so I don't see it effecting us a whole lot.
09/27/2012
I don't eat a lot of pork products. My husband and kids eat bacon though.
09/27/2012
I saw this article too and I wanted to cry. We don't eat pork products often, so I will be eating the same amount as we currently eat. Bacon is a treat and pork chops are just too yummy and versatile to give up on.
09/27/2012
I eat meat, but I don't eat pork.
09/27/2012
maybe
09/27/2012
I buy pork maybe four times a year, besides my usual bacon every other month. So, I don't think the price raise will affect me much.
09/27/2012
Probably not, I love bacon too much
09/27/2012
I don't eat much meat - love pork, though.

I have no problem eating pork. (FTR, bacon and pork chops are "real" pork. Anything that comes from a pig is.)
The news in the US has been saying the same thing about a "bacon shortage." I call bullshit. Yes, the grain may be a little more expensive, but the fact that bacon is more popular than ever now and suddenly we are being told the price will triple next year due to "grain shortages" is mostly bullshit. I mean, they probably will raise the prices. Big Business works on propaganda and lies. The Pork Industry wants more money, so they manufacture a "shortage." It's been done in virtually every industry in the country at one time or an other.
If it gets really expensive, we'll probably cut back. But, I don't believe the entire reason for predicting the prices going up is due solely to what they are telling us.

I like pork. If the price goes up, I will definitely cut back.
09/27/2012
I picked maybe because I don't eat pork, but my husband does. But if the price goes up TOO much, it'll be like steak. We won't buy it unless it's on sale.
09/27/2012
If the price really skyrockets, then I'll probably buy less, but I can't see much keeping me from buying bacon. I don't buy/eat much pork other than bacon.

Cat E.
Not a fan of pork.

I buy the expensive, local free range stuff, so it probably wont effect me much.
