I tend to start planning fairly early. I like to know my menu well in advance so I can dtock up on things I may need.

The day after the holiday's over, I make notes of what went well and what didn't. So I guess technically I start planning the next year's meal the day after the current year's meal!

I was in charge of Christmas dinner for the first time last year. I started sketching out ideas two months early. And I'm starting even earlier this year.
