How well stocked is your kitchen?

Contributor: Cookie Monster Mike Cookie Monster Mike
So, I work in a store where I specialize in selling all sort of kitchen gadgets, electrics and so on. I'd have to say I have a fairly well stocked kitchen, nothing too fancy and no professional chef's cookware or items by all means. So i'm curious about others out there, do you get by on the very few basic items you need to cook with? Or do you indulge in all the fun little gadgets and items in your cooking adventures? I'd say I am to the point where I cannot fit anything else in the kitchen anymore. Working where I do has it's perks on major discounted products.

Also, if anyone has questions about specific things in the kitchen, I will try to help out in answering them

I have a Slow Cooker, Food Processor, Coffee maker, a blender, and a toaster oven which I consider the "few basic items I need", not counting my random collection of mis-matched pots & pans. I'd like to get my hands on a nice big electric grill, but other than that there isn't a whole lot I feel I need to add to the kitchen gadgets.

I'm reasonably well-stocked. I don't have everything I want, but I can make most things.

What he said lol. I can get by with what I have and am only missing a few items of what I want.

Hmmm... i don't really need much in the way of gadgets. I have a blender I almost never touch, my boyfriend bought a George Forman grill I hate and we have a meat slicer we don't really have room or need for... Other than that all our gadgets are primitive things like whisks and potato mashers I would LOVE to get a food processor, and a bigger apartment where I can actually take my lovely Kitchen Aid 5-quart stand mixer out of its box....

My kitchen is pretty well stocked with everything I need. However, I have been looking for a new dinnerware. We had a very nice set of white porcelain dinnerware, but a number of pieces have been chipped or broken over the years. It has proven to be nice enough for family gatherings....Christma s & Thanksgivng, while also being suitable for daily use. I'd love to find a similar set.

Not that well considering I have a bunch of stuff in storage across the country and I simply refuse to buy all new stuff (working on getting the stuff here.) We have a couple of pans, a cookie sheet, a rice cooker, a French press, electric water kettle (drink a LOT of hot beverages) and a microwave, which only my husband uses.

Good to read the responses I know some people go a little crazy and get every item there is out there for their kitchen while others live on the real basics. At my current job I have been there three years and had the chance to try out a lot of products. In the long run I have found that most of the simple items in your kitchen, or the old fashioned designs are the best. Although I would love to get my hands on a KitchenAid Stand Mixer hehe. But i'm more so referring to things like; an asparagus peeler, an electric potato peeler or even that ASOTV Robo Stir; it's these things I don't understand why is even necessary lol.

Like Alton Brown says, "There should only be one uni-tasker in the kitchen" and then he pulls out the fire extinguisher.

We only have stuff that gets used at least semi-frequently like the coffee pot, toaster, blender, crock pot. Oh, and a air popcorn popper that's over 20 years old

I have some basics, and that's really about it. When I bought my sautee pan and my skillet I bought nice ones, lawd knows I use them enough, but not top-of-the-line either. Just nice enough to do a good job while still being affordable (thick bottoms, but not pure copper, y'know)

I have a few 'specialty items' like a tagine or an idli-steaming pan, but those have either been gifts or $2 Goodwill purchases.

Heh. Reading through this post I realize I don't even have a potato masher. I get by with a colander!

I don't think I could live without good cookware and a potato masher. The cookware I have now is a mid range Kitchen Aid set, I would love to get my hands on some Green Pan cookware, that stuff is really nice

I have things that get me by. My favorite items are my stick blender and my Le Creuset baking dishes, which I got on sale or I'd never have been able to afford them! Someday, I'd like a big, beautiful kitchen that's fully stocked with super sharp knives and high-end cookware...For now, I'm stuck with the dark, ugly, tiny little galley kitchen in my studio apartment.

Awww well you have to make do with what you have sometimes. I live in an apartment right now and i'm running out of room to put things. I have heard really good things about Le Creuset. I also seem to have a knife fetish, i have 2 full knife sets and a few additional knives that sit in a drawer. Yeah it's a little crazy, but I had a basic knife set, and came across a set at work that was discounted because it was missing 2 of the larger knives. So that was a $300 knife set I got for less than $50 and then purchased a couple large knives to fill in the block. So yes I have a small fetish for sharp kitchen knives, don't judge haha

I have all I can afford. Although I'd like to get a soda making machine. Plus I don't know where I can buy big pots to brew in.

Where about's do you live out of curiosity? The soda making machine is fun! I use the SodaStream but there are plenty of other's out there that range in design and price.

The store I work out the largest pots we sell are the big 30QT ones, 2 different styles in stainless steel and then a 30QT turkey fryer lol.
