Homemade burgers

Contributor: Melan!e Melan!e
I was just wondering if anyone else puts apple sauce in their burger mix. My mom used to do this and I do it too now. Every one else I know thinks its weird but all agree its amazing after trying my burgers.

I've never done it but I would be willing to try it. What's the ratio of applesauce to meat? What other spices do you add?

Makes sense, as applesauce would contribute to keeping it moist.

I usually eyeball it but for 1 lb of meat, I add roughly 4 tbsps of apple sauce. I add an egg if I'm using really lean meat like our deer or moose burger. Bread crumbs to get them to hold together and about 1/2 a package of lipton's onion soup mix.

Oh boy, another way to cook venison. Gona try that one for sure. We usually just use bacon trimmings at about 4-1.

I've heard of that, but I've yet to try eating or cooking burgers that way. May have to try it out though.

I just put seasoning, diced onions, diced mushrooms, and some mustard. I have never thought of applesauce.
