Have you ever heard of/ used grains of paradise?

Contributor: SourAppleMartini SourAppleMartini
Apparently Alton Brown likes to use it for cooking, but I've never hear of it before. I have realised that my own choice of cooking of herbs and spices is rather limited. Is is usually one or a combination of: black pepper, bay leaf, cayenne pepper and coriander. What do you usually season your food with?

Funny. I have heard Alton Brown talk about it too. I have never tried it myself, least that I know of.

There's a great online spice store Wicked Wahine told me about where you can buy it. Call her back here!! She didn't say anything!!! She knows stuff and she's holding out!! hehe

If you try it, let us know!! Also thank Wicked Wahine, she may have other web sites to share.

My new pepper grinder has a blend of grains of paradise with red, white, and black peppercorns. I'm not sure I can taste the difference between this pepper blend and any other. Its flavor must be very subtle compared with pepper.

No I haven't heard of it but I trust Alton Brown's judgement. Used to love watching him on tv!

I LOVE Penzeys Spices. You can order them online. I like putting Foxpoint on everything, especially in vegetables or eggs. Forward is my second favorite. It adds kick but it isn't spicy? I really hate super spicy stuff but I LOVE Forward. I put it on mac and cheese sometimes too. Arizona Dreaming is the other one that I have and I put it on brown rice with soy sauce and it is great. Google Penzeys if you haven't already, I'm serious!
