Has anyone ever eaten BUFFALO meat?

Contributor: PassionateLover2 PassionateLover2
I have seen Buffalo meat sold in grocery stores lately. I read how lean the product is, but do you like it? Do you eating the meat as a steak, hamburger, or as a roast?

Growing up, my stepdad had a friend who owned a buffalo ranch. We used to get it mostly as jerky, but we have had it other ways as well.

Yes, I've had several buffalo burgers. There are a lot of restaurants in my old neighborhood that carried them, so it was a common thing. It's yummy, but I'm not a big burger fan.

Before we went to a vegetarian diet, we had buffalo regularly. It's delicious, but you need to be careful in cooking that you don't dry it out since it is lower in fat. It makes excellent chili!

I had it a lot while living in Montana (naturally). I like it much better than beef because it has more flavor.

I'll eat it at specialty restaurants as either a burger or steak. It's quite tasty - but not that much different than beef IMO.

It's usually called Bison meat when available commercially. I have had it on multiple occasions, bison sausage, ground bison, I have had bison steak too. Honestly I can't tell the difference between it and a good quality beef. It all taste the same to me. We also eat elk in our house which half the time I can't tell a taste difference between it and beef as well, except for it's way leaner so it dries out if over cooked.

I grew up part of the time in Montana, and a neighbor owned a buffalo ranch. Every now and then the buffalo would escape their fences and one time ended up in our yard. They destroyed tons of stuff on our property and tore up our fences. The rancher who owned the buffalo bartered with my parents for the damages, and gave us meat from 2 buffalo. We ate bison FOREVER!!!!! It has so much more flavor than beef!!

Buffalo is very good, just Do Not overcook it. We cook our steaks rare to medium rare. It's a lean piece of meat that will be dry if cooked too long.

Love buffalo meat! It is also healthier for your system as long as it is organic, which is more likely as I know than organic beef in the market nowadays. Would choose buffalo over store-bought meat anytime!

I've eaten both buffalo steaks and burgers. I love the taste and it's delicious, more aromatic than beef.

I love it, though I couldn't say that I have ever eaten real beef (and I was never into steaks and stuff, especially because of that), made of REAL meat and not industrial crap sold as beef nowadays... ^^ (And I am totally friggin sorry for the poor critters, and am not into meat that much - but if I have to choose I choose to eat "happy animals" over mass produced tortured critters anytime!!! ^^)

Yep, it's delicious and so much better than beef. Unfortunately around here it is quite pricey so I don't have it often.

Just had a buffalo steak for the first time back in October. It was...AWESOME. We enjoy it over beef since it's much more flavorful!

Yes, I don't like the burger, but roast, jerky, sausage and steak is pretty good. It is mild and not as fatty as beef.
