Do you eat/drink anything special for vaginal health?

Contributor: keeweepoo keeweepoo
I've heard you can do things like drink cranberry juice, eat no-sugar yogurt, and avoid eating too much red meat to help support a healthy vagina. Is there anything in your diet with your jayjay in mind?

I'm curious, I understand how cranberry juice is good for urinary tract health - but can you explain how does Damiana contributes to vaginal health? Thank you!

Actually cranberry juice has antibacterial and antifungal properties. You can drink large amounts of it to treat or prevent BV and yeast infection. (I wrote an article that never made it to SexIs)

I just quickly did a search about Damiana. It seems it's to treat vaginal dryness. Someone claimed it made their vajayjay tingle and someone else said it made them feel tight.

Rossie, you may wanna read more about the effects of that herb. A few websites suggest that it's progesterone binding, but not estrogen binding. That would make you estrogen dominate. That's not safe!!! Some experts say that estrogen dominance is a recipe for cancer. I'm not trying to scare you!!! Just make sure that you read up on it and talk to your healthcare provider/doctor about it. Some herbs can be dangers. There is no FDA regulation on herbs, that can be both bad and good. If that herb helps you, you can always have your healthcare provider check your estrogen and progesterone levels once a year just to be safe.

I... Eat yogurt when I feel like it and in the back of my mind I know it's good for my vaginal health, but I don't actively pursue dietary changes for my vagina. I probably should.

I was on heavy duty antibiotics that was giving me yeast infections. Probiotics helped a lot. I'd take them 2 hours or so after every dose of antibiotics.

This might not be useful for people who are healthy and having no problems, but if you have frequent yeast infections, try good quality probiotics.

I don't eat anything special specifically for vaginal health. I eat properly to make sure my whole body is in a healthy state.

But... I do use coconut oil as a lube and that helps more than anything.

I take cranberry pills every day when I'm sexually active to help prevent urinary tract infections. I find it - and the extra water that I take care to drink along with it - to be very helpful in keeping everything in tip top shape. I know that that's not strictly vaginal health, but UTIs make things uncomfortable all over down there and as Kristi said, it has more than just the benefits that I care for the most.
