Cooking is fun! Baking is .. meh :/
Do you prefer to cook or to bake?

I like both, but for different reasons. I like to cook because it's much cheaper and better for you to make your own meals, and I like to bake because you can make some seriously tasty desserts. I like to experiment when it comes to baking and try new things.

Sounds like me I am always running out of vanilla flour yeast something I should look into scheduled deliveries of my supplies. I just pulled some butterscotch white chocolate chip blondies out of the oven my boys are harassing me for them lol and I made a coffee cake for the morning and two nights ago I made raspberry/white chocolate chip cookies for my mom. Haven't decided what I will make tomorrow

Speaking of, My Man bought several varieties of flour yesterday (unbleached all purpose, self rising, and I had enough bread flour, whole wheat, and rye) but I need a new bottle of real vanilla extract.
Or, I could get some beans and make my own with vodka. MMM

Totally thinking about making my own vanilla as well. Might as well, you can buy cheap vodka (it won't matter), quality beans and produce some great vanilla that will last forever. The only downside is it takes time, about 2 months. Periodically as you use some vanilla up, you can just refill the bottle with vodka and it will refresh itself over time.

My mom is currently making her own vanilla. So far it seems to be doing well.
I'd rather cook than bake. I can do both and I'm not bad at both, but I think I'm better at cooking because I hate having to follow instructions to a T knowing that one slight miscalculation could result in disaster. Also, for whatever reason, whenever I bake something always seems to go wrong unless it's me lumping dough onto a sheet. That I have a hard time screwing up but like, anything else gets messed up some. I'd rather doctor up some food on the stove lol.

I like both, but baking is more relaxing - could be because I've done it more often and am more comfortable with what to do when something goes wrong!

Baking! I have such an attraction to sweets so...baking it is!

How awesome to have a full stash of flours so jealous and the homemade ones take a while but are so worth it

I enjoy baking, and do a good job of it from the reactions I've gotten. As far as cooking, I am o.k. I can cook basic things, but unless it goes in the oven, I cannot do anything fancy.

Probably cooking.... maybe.... this is a very baking time of year! I like making toffee. *swoons with love of making toffee*

I much prefer to cook all sorts of meals, sadly I'm not much of a baker. I'm not incapable of baking, i just don't have the touch for it. So often when something is supposed to be nice and moist, it turns out dry

I choose bake because I enjoy eating what I bake and I don't always eat what I cook. I cook a lot of foods because other's like it along the lines of stuffed ham, chili, certain soups. I cook em but I don't like em. I haven't baked anything I haven't loved to eat.

I like a bit of both, but I like to grill mostly.

Me I love to do both but if someone said I could only do one I am an avid baker. I don't have a sweet tooth at all but something about it calms me and makes me happy. I make tons of cookies and cakes during the holidays and put together little sweet boxes I call them and pass them out to family and friends.
So which do you prefer to cook or to bake? less

Can't there be a both button?
12/06/2011
I enjoy both but I prefer to cook simply because it's less precise. I prefer to be able to play with things and there's a much larger margin for error when making your own adjustments in cooking than baking. That being said though, I'm a big believer in food gifts so I still DO a lot of baking.

I much prefer to cook as I enjoy savory/spicy foods over sweets. Also, it's quicker to cook for me, baking just takes too long.

I like to do both.

Cook. Although Im def not the best at it.

I love cooking. Baking, I'm kinda impartial.

I have to be in a mood to bake.

I'm not good at cooking, so I prefer baking. It's easier.

I love to bake, it's so relaxing to me. I do enjoy cooking too but baking is my favorite.

I'd rather cook cause I like to just dump ingredients in and see how it turns out. I'm too lazy to actually measure. Baking is too unforgiving. although i have made some very tasty "mistakes"
