I love both! Cooking blogs are my guilty pleasure, but I have a pretty hefty cookbook collection as well. Since it's the holidays, I'd love some cookbook recommendations. And I'm always on the lookout for new blogs! If you have a favorite cooking blog, please post a link!
Do you prefer cookbooks or cooking blogs?

Cookbooks are nice because they stick to the point of showing you a picture of the recipe, ingredients, how to make it and so on. Also there's usually helpful conversion information etc. However blogs give you better insight on the recipe as a prepared dish rather than just making it without knowing what it's going to be like

It is easier for me to use my laptop and have recipes easily searchable.

We use a combination of both, but Smitten Kitchen is one of our favorite blogs! So many tasty things there!

You forgot to mention good old-fashioned recipe cards! You know the ones, our great-grandma used to cook with, that have measurements like "a spoonful." I use all three of these methods, depending on what I'm making.

I wish I had those! I haven't inherited anything like that, though I wish I had.

I like cookbooks, but mine always end up with notes scribbled in the margins about variations and things I noticed while making the recipes...
Blogs are also great because I can read the blogger's experience with the recipe, and I can also read comments from other people about their variations and adjustments.

Ohhh, I hate writing in books! I can't handle it. Some librarian must have really scared me in elementary school or something...LOL I also am really against dog-eared pages!

Both. Blogs usually have better photos.

I loooove cooking blogs because they usually come with reader's comments and stuff on how to make things better. It's really nice. :3

I like my blogs, the only cook book I'm really jonesing for is a copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking (because I have a crush on Julia Child) but it's so hard to find for cheapish!

I love using blogs. They show me that someone actually made it and usually have helpful tips/pictures.

I love using both! I love cookbooks for easy reference to traditional recipes, and I love blogs because they usually show me newer ideas I'd never heard of before.

I prefer blogs, they're easier to get to and there's more variety.

Both!

I like both, but I don't spend my money on cook books anymore -- especially because my diet is so specific (vegan and gluten free). I just cook from blogs now, or I go make copies from the library for specific things I find interesting. A couple of my favorites are: ohsheglows.com and veggiegrettie.com

Both are good but I don't have any books so I usually go online.

Both! Blogs are fun to search for and of course they are free which is a big plus. I looove shopping for cookbooks and having them handy in the kitchen, they are a luxury though.

I've found the cookbooks to be more helpful personally.
02/05/2012
Cooking blogs are fun for some things, but nothing will ever beat my own books that I can scribble in and change the measurements and get stains on all the pages and get to know like good friends.
I have good memories with my cook books, and I'd never trade them in for the speedy convenience of recipe searching/blogs online. Even when I do pull recipes from online, I print them out and stick them in a notebook so I can annotate them. I'm rarely 100% pleased with a recipe, and generally find better ways of doing things for me personally, so not being able to note what worked and didn't on a recipe drives me nuts.

I normally just google the recipe when I want to make it

I love AllRecipes.com It's kind of a blog AND a cookbook.

Cooking blogs because you get to hear what really works and is delicious. Alot of book recipes sound great but once you make it and serve it, it really suchsl The blog woulld have to a wider range of opinions. Kind of like all the opinions of EF reviewers.
03/03/2012
Blogs are a but more personal and sometimes I feel like I can contact the person to troubleshoot certain issues.
03/04/2012
If I'm using a recipe more than likely it's from one of the cookbooks I have, otherwise I'm making something on the fly.

"Bneither" is hilarous!
I like cookbooks, but the good thing about blogs is that you can read comments from people who have tried and/or modified the recipes.

cookbooks are my way to go, but blogs are useful in figuring out subsitutes and short cuts for recipies if you don't have all the equiptment or if you need to change something.
03/26/2012
I love my cookbooks! Lately, though, I've been using blogs a little more often because you can comment on the recipes and see other people's comments as well! Same with recipe websites.
