Coffee Drinkers -- How do you clean out your coffee maker?

Contributor: Gone (LD29) Gone (LD29)
I'm currently running my coffee maker through a cycle with half water & half vinegar. Kind of smelly, but it does the job of cleaning it up well. (I'll be running 3 or 4 cycles of just water before I make coffee again.)

Just wondering if anyone has another good (possibly better) method for cleaning out a drip coffee maker?

I just use a few cycles of water myself. But if you have hard water, the vinegar is probably a good idea.

I've always used the vinegar and water mixture.

I always use filtered water to make coffee and then the vinegar and water mixture too. Never had any problems with that!
