We usually buy margarine because it's a lot cheaper, but sometime butter.

When you're baking, if has to be butter! I remember the one and only time I made chocolate chip cookies with margarine instead of butter, thinking the substitution wouldn't matter. Boy, was I WRONG! I had paper thin, plate size cookies instead of nice, fluffy cookies. Too much moisture in the margarine to accurately sub it for butter.
Ever since, I've been butter all the way!

I use butter. I remember one of my professors saying that margarine is one molecule away from being plastic and that's all it took for me to quit using it.

My mother was a margarine person and I never even tasted real butter until I went to college. After that taste, I was a butter person!

Butter only, especially after some of the releases of the alters for ingredients in the margarine. I always knew it was supposed to be 1 ingredient away from plastic lol but now there are health issues. Yuck. I like the taste of butter more anyway

I am more of a fan of butter personally.

Butter, coconut oil and olive oil.

Since margarine was proven to be worse for one's health than butter, I'm baffled as to why it even continues to exist. I cook with olive oil, and use real butter when it's called for.

only butter for me.

Margarine is nasty. It has trans fats and it's.... plastic. I'd rather splurge, eat a little less of it and eat real butter. It's the only dairy product I can eat, so I enjoy it, too.
I'll use transfat free shortening for baking about half the time, as butter can make some baked foods greasy.
But, I usually use butter for most things. Olive oil is good for certain thing but I don't bake with it.

It depends what I'm making. Marzipan cookies, for example, spread too much, even if the dough is well chilled, when butter is used, but they'll hold their shape with margarine.

Butter, only.

My parents always used margarine. As an adult, I don't think margarine has EVER entered my house. It's always butter. Butter for baking, olive oil for cooking.
