Hello all, I have been thinking about making a flogger for a while and wondering what type of material to use. Leather thong immediately come to mind, but I was wondering if I could use something like electric tape? Or maybe even rope? I've got this *thing* where I like to try to upcycle the materials for most of my crafts if at all possible. So has anyone else has done this project? I'd love to know how you did it and how successful the end result was!

I keep planning to do a Denim flogger tutorial that uses upcycled jeans, but I haven't gotten there yet.

I have made floggers and whips out of rope, chain and duct tape. I'm currently thinking of making a flogger from a old leather bag I have laying around.

I've made a rope flogger. It turned out pretty good, but the handle needs work. Still, it does the job.

Have you ever used that plastic string, gimp? Shit hurts when you're hit with it! If you're looking for an intense sting, I suggest gimp. =P

rope falls with a knots tied at the ends would give a nice thud.

I made one years ago with rope. It was a fun Valentine's gift for my husband.
