Idea for Medium of the Month! Halloween/Fall Crafts?

Contributor: Elaira Elaira
Normally, I'll be giving you guys a list of things to vote on for our monthly focus. (I'm working on ways of tying it in to our club content a little more.)

I had a wonderful idea for October! We could shift focus a little bit and do Halloween/Fall crafts! This would include things like costume making, make-up, pumpkin carving, decoration crafts, etc. I personally think it would be really fun! You could make yourself (or your kids) costumes this year, have an awesome party with bad ass decorations, and have cute carved pumpkins!

So, are you guys feeling this idea for next month?

If you guys like this sort idea, we could continue it through the holiday season. Crafters are especially busy at these times of year. We could do projects for making gifts for people, creative gift wrapping, decorative crafts, etc. What do you think?

After the holidays we could resume the regular way of voting.

No, I'd rather vote on a medium again.
I have no idea what's going on.

I like it! And maybe around the Holidays there could be two separate focuses: decorations and gifts. I don't know, just a thought.

We could just focus on everything. One thing I've learned about this club and myself in general is that broader things are much easier to focus on than a bunch of specific thing. I do plan to incorporate all different sorts of things. Of course, all of you also help to make this club as great as it is, so you can do videos or workshops for crafts and things!

Personally, I've been dying to do an Amanda Palmer-inspired makeup tutorial. It would be useful for a lot of costumes.

I only have some make up with me my full on make up kit is in Chicago. Which sucks because all of my fx pallets are in it as well.

I think I have one urban decay eyeshadow pallet with me but thats about it. hahaha

Hrmmm actually I might have a wolf brothers face painting pallet somewhere. All my blood making stuff and bruises, and scar making etc I think is in Chicago though. Ill have to see what the bf has.

CVS, $5. These colors are freaking awesome for being so cheap. They come out really bright and they're pretty blendable.

That makeup does look awesome, but I think I'd miss my eyebrows. Unless of course we were covering them up lol.

Slightly off topic, but have you seen the video on youtube where the chick turns herself into Jared Leto?

I have an awesomely huge pallet like that that I ordered from Hong kong for like 10 bucks. Its huge. I miss it, I think my sister stole it because she has access to all my make up right now. I might have to pop in cvs and see if they have it here.

And to cover your eyebrows use soap. Get a bar of white soap, an eyebrow brush and some water. And make it soapy and drag it across your real brow. Dry in between applying soap and itll eventually cover them up. Than you take make up and match your skin tone. Its how we do it in the effects world.

You actually just cover them up with a neat technique. I'd never shave mine off.

Ooh, I'm interested. I don't have the materials, but I used to be a face-painter years ago... I might join in if I can find stuff on the cheap.

The good part of this time of year is that you can find stuff for makup and costumes EVERYWHERE! I know there are some cheap sets at Wal-Mart. Personally, I love shopping for things out of the Halloween section even though I want them for all the time.

Now would be the time to throw anyone else's ideas for some projects so that we can get an idea of who is into what!

More then ANY other time of the year, or celebration, this is the one time when individuals and families can jump into all kinds of crafts. There are SO many fall and Halloween possibilities ...and a million themes you can run with.

I can't wait to see a costume thread. I just started making my She-Ra costume this week and I am super excited about it. I will definitely want to show it off And it's always fun to see what other people do.

I love the face makeup, but the bloody fingers just don't do it for me. Nice job, though.

I don't think it's blood, I think it's from writing on that mirror in lipstick. But I've never seen the video or whatever that it comes from, so I don't know for sure.

If anyone has any weird Halloween make up questions shoot them my way. I have my associates degree in "Monster making make up". I can talk you through or make tutorials for all sorts of things, fake body parts, blood, air brushing makeup and body paint, prosthetic make up, etc. I even know how to make wigs, but thats a long term project. I usually get a billion questions from family and friends around this time of year about how to do things so I would be more than glad to extend that to my Eden family.

You should totally do a How-To video of pictures put together. I need to know this. In fact, we have a zombie walk coming up soon.
