Today I finished painting a pottery platter to give to my SIL for Christmas. It got me to thinking many people enjoy giving craft items from their heart to loved ones. I would love to hear what you've made for gifts this year or your most treasured gift you've ever given.

As for what I personally make, only paintings/drawins/pen and ink/charcoal, etc. However, we buy almost exclusively handmade gifts.

I give mixed-media collages occasionally, paintings, bleach dyed/drawn-on t-shirts, handmade jewelry, and sometimes sewn crafts (I cut patterns and pin and have my mom sew for me ). Last year I had an 80% handmade Christmas and friends and family loved it.

I'm hugely into crafting! Most of what I give out at Christmas has been handmade by me. I even get requests!

I never have. Not opposed to it, just never tried.

i've given knitted scarves, socks, etc before. this year i'm making little collages with photos of family members in them as their gifts. it's harder to do, but much more meaningful and so well worth it.

I used to, but I haven't in forever. It ranged anywhere from woodwork, to needlepoint, sewing, or just handcrafted cards.

I'm starting a tradition of giving two or three people each year something knitted. I've knitted two scarves for friends in Boston, and I'm currently working on a wrap/hood for a visiting friend's toddler for this year.
I also bake a lot of stuff for people like helpful neighbors, the landlord, bosses, etc.

I give a ton of handmade gifts. Often baked goods.

I *usually* do drawings. I'm done to my last piece of Stonehenge that I'm using for two pictures a friend commissioned me to draw.
I may try collage if I get enough materials

Baked goods are always appreciated! Although it's not baked, I'm going to make Santa Hat Party Mix this year. It's just too darn cute not to!

Yes, I am making some woodworking gifts this year.
12/13/2011
Yup! Mostly jewelry, but I'll whip something up regardless.
12/13/2011
I do. Especially crocheted stuff and jewelry.

I think it's fantastic that so many of you are making a gift from the heart!

I actually like making presents more than just buying them, it feels a lot more heartfelt and sincere.
My mother and female relatives usually get jewelry but I've been known to make a nice sketchbook or journal for the guys too.

I love crafting so I usually end up making a few gifts and buy the rest : )

I'm like you. I've considered asking my family to have one Christmas that the only giving you give is something that you've made yourself. After all, Christmas is not about flashy gifts.

Crafting gets a bad rap. I always say it's "art" instead. And I make things if the situation seems right. Embroidered a Liberator Ramp (that I de-Liberator-ed) cover for my mom. Since we're moving soon, the Ramp will be a lot to move, and she was having trouble with her varicose veins, so I reworked the covers to look inconspicuous and embroider the Tree of Life on the top cover. Things like the Wedge or Ramp are good to keep the legs elevated to prevent blood from pooling.

I'm definetly not an artsy person so I don't do any kind of crafts.

I make polymer clay pendants for some of my family and friends for Christmas. I also make name plaques for kids. I love crafting/playing with different mediums. I agree it's heartfelt when its made by you but a bought gift can be heartfelt too.

I crocheted scarves for everyone on my list one year. I only do it because I'm a cheapskate though lol.

The clay pendants reminds me of my great aunt. When we were young, she made all the females in our big family pendants or pins out of clay and hand painted them. I hope your gifts were just as cherished this year as they always have been!
