#BuildaBetterEden - Community Planning: March 2012 - Everybody welcome!

Contributor: Jul!a Jul!a
Hello everybody! Today marks the first Community Planning Thread! This is similar to our previous Community Planning Meetings, only instead of being limited to meeting twice a month, this thread will be available all month long for you to post in. It will go up the same day the first planning meeting of each month would have, the first Thursday!

What's it for you ask? Well, we want you to have a chance to let us know what you think of the community and how it's going. Do you have something that you think needs to be changed? Ideas for how to make something better? Curious about hosting a workshop or something similar? Bring it here! Bounce ideas around with each other, and keep conversation going! We'll be watching and participating in this thread each month, so your ideas and thoughts will be seen.

If you like, you can read through some of our previous meetings to get an idea of what kinds of things you can bring up, or just have fun reading about the things we've talked about!

CPM: 02.16.2012 - Another short meeting. I announced a few changes in how some of the meetings were going to go.

CPM: 02.02.2012 - A very short meeting, we discussed some of the new features from the update.

CPM: 01.19.2012 - We spent most of the meeting discussing the new photo uploading feature.

CPM: 01.05.2012 - We discussed things that have been brought up in the past and what their status was, and also things we could do workshops on.

When looking for my monthly assignment, I wish we could have the option of narrowing it down to items that have at least one, but less than three reviews on it. That would be so helpful to me. I spend way too much time each month searching and becoming disappointed to find something I like and see that it has more than the required reviews on it. I like the option we have right now that has no reviews, but I'd like for this to be a second option as well. Just my two cents.

I think that we should have the ability to delete our own review drafts - it's a huge, huge hassle to have to always put in tickets about it and it would be great if a person decided they just didn't want to do a review, or if they wanted to do it in a different format.

I also agree with unfulfilled - I would love to have an option added on for "3 or less reviews". I get frustrated, too, with searching for a product only to find that one I want has more than 3 reviews up.

Also, may I suggest branching out into less typical toys? Stuff like fist dildos, or bigger dildos ( to a lot of the size-queens I know, 2 1/4th inch diameter is small ), or more pony/kitty/puppy-play gear or even the Fleshlight Freaks line. You could expand your customer base and I honestly doubt you would LOSE any over it. :> BDSM harnesses and better bondage ropes would also be nice, maybe even cages for human pets.

I agree with unfullfilled on the free assignment search. It's frustrating thinking "yes, I can get this!" only to find you can't. I think new users may be confused with it. I was going to suggested this before I read her suggestion.

I also second tA on the deleting the drafts. I have one from my very first review when I picked the wrong toy.

I would like to suggest the option to remove products from the assignments that were cancelled. I just like things organized and I have about 4 pages so far to flip through. It'd just be nice to be able to delete them.

I agree with the previous suggestions. I think it would be great to be able to search for items with less then 3 reviews. Great ideas.

As someone who is in the Transgender Issues forum daily, I can say that there's a pretty big demand for more transgendered related products, like binders for FtM's, tucking supplies and breast forms for MtF's, and so on. We really appreciate that EF carries harnesses and several soft packers, but a lot of FtM's/genderfluids/gen derqueers on here are asking for binders!

I don't really have anything interesting to say beyond, "Yeah, that," to the posts above me and a thumbs up to a month-long thread instead of a two hour chat I can never make.

I agree with the thought of being able to delete draft reviews. When I was learning how to write reviews, and how to add things into the Assignment area... let's just say, I've a bunch listed that I don't own yet!!

I agree with this 100%. It would be great if there was something like the box with "show out of stock products", except we could pick ones that were still available for a monthly assignment. I know I have the same feeling when I'm so excited to get a product only to see that I can't use that one. This is a really great idea.

I also agree with tA about adding more of the "exotic" things. I'd love to see some puppy/kitty gear on this site. And while I don't use a Fleshlight, I'm sure expanding on them would be great for the men of EF.

And the being able to delete the drafts would be wonderful too. I have a few that I started, but decided I wanted to use a different template for them, but can't go back and change it. That would be so helpful.

Everyone else got here with good ideas before me!

Yes, this! Binders are a big, big, big desire amongst the trans community.

I'd like to see more harness-compatible toys. I feel like their used to a much larger selection, especially of the non-realistic variety, and it would be great to see more to choose from again.

There is a devoted thread to requesting EF carry items each month. Here is the one for March: link. I would suggest making suggestions on that thread as the EF product manager (Maxim) reads and responds to that thread. Also, specific product recommendations would probably be better than general requests.

My request would be to have a Forum Moderator to merge or delete threads when a topic has already been brought up 100X already.

I think it would be awesome if people had to join the mentor program in order to become an advanced reviewer. I think a lot of the people don't realize that if they go and have people vote them advanced while they're in the mentor program, that the mentor doesn't get credit. And I know I've been guilty myself of clicking "vote" for advanced reviewer requests instead of the link to their reviews, and have voted for some people who just weren't ready yet.

If it was set up where they wanted to be advanced, and had to pick a mentor first and go through all that, it would be so much easier. Even if you took away some of the points gained from it by making it mandatory.

I'm not sure if this is th right place for this but I have 2 ideas for workshops that I would like to see. I enjoyed the ones Tooltime Tim did for cock rings and prostate stimulation and I would like to see something similar for women. My first idea would be a workshop for g-spot stimulation and orgasms. I know there are many great threads for this, but I would like to see a workshop to coalesce the information and experiences into a big event and resource. My next idea is a rabbit buying workshop.

I agree! It's especially annoying when the same topic is posted twice on the same page. It can't be that hard to notice it's already been posted!

Along the lines of searching for a review item, I don't understand why, when you do a search for a product to review, items pop up that are not eligible for review for 1 reason or another. Shouldn't only items available for review pop up?

Also Agree with fist dildos, and a larger variety of sizes for Suction cup dildos.

There should be some kind of button on forum posts, something like the +1 google uses or the "like" on facebook, though I'm certain it can't be those exactly for trademark, copyright, etc. issues, but something that lets you show a poster that you appreciated, enjoyed, laughed at or otherwise LIKED their post without having to actually make a reply just to say "that's funny" or "i liked what you had to say". I feel like it would clear up some clutter, and it would be easier, as a poster, to see that someone appreciated what you had to say. Sometimes, replies get lost in a thread since they just appear later in the thread with the quote above it and not right below the one you're replying to like they do on some message boards, which means they don't always get seen by the person you're responding to unless they have alerts set on the thread. Also, in threads like this, it would be easier than having a million people say "yeah, i agree with so and so" or "I feel the same way" or otherwise second the motion.

I'd also kind of like to be able to select an option that lets me automatically get email alerts to anything I post. If there is such an option I haven't found it so please excuse me if I've just missed this! But it's cumbersome to have to remember to set alerts on every post I make, when, in general, if I'm posting to the forum, I want to know if someone replies to my post.

I thought of something else I'd like to see; a running tally of what you've done for the CURRENT day for Edenpoints - like how there's a list of what you did the day prior... except same-day.

I agree with the alerts for forum posts.
I post so often, it's hard to follow. It would be great if there was even something like a "recent posts" button that you could click to see everything you've posted before. If this already exists, then I have no idea how to find it.

Since everything is available the next day, I don't think we'd end up doing anything about making a tally available same day. The way I understand it is that it works like your bank account where it takes a day for everything to register.

If you scroll down towards the bottom of the main forum page, there's a series of tabs right above all of the discussions that lets you choose from all discussions, only those you've favorited, only those from contributors who you've favorited, or your own discussions.

Just putting it out there, I like all of the ideas so far, especially the ones pertaining to keeping things organized on your account.

My suggestion, and I do not know how hard this would be: Anybody else wish that EF had a chat function? So that contributors who are online at the same time can talk real time instead of sending messages? I talk to my mentor A LOT throughout the day and when another contributor misinterpreted a comment I left on one of their reviews, it took several messages to clear it up when all it would have taken was a 5 minute IM convo.

Again, I don't know if it is possible, but you asked
