July 2011
Welcome to the Birthday Club’s seventh post of birthday shout-outs! Once a month will be a forum announcement to celebrate the birthdays of our favorite Eden Staff, reviewers, and contributors! So wish everyone a happy birthday and let the celebration begin!
Thanks to the amazing generosity of the EdenFantasys Staff, every contributor who participates in the birthday club will receive a $25 gift card for their birthday month! These are distributed weekly by the staff and are only given to those who send in their birthdays on time to be included in the monthly posts!
And if you have yet to submit your own birthday, PM or email me now! These are the only accepted forms of birthday submissions because it allows me to store them and not worry about missing one of you. Also, if you don’t get your birthday to me before the shout-out gets posted for your month, you will not be mentioned in the post and are ineligible for the GC that month. But don’t worry! You’ll still be in my records when your birthday comes around again!
To make celebrating with our fellow Eden contributors more interesting and special, every month has its own characteristics and history so I’ll be sharing a little of that each time. It’s not going to be extensive information because that would take up entirely too much space and leave me with nothing to do next year. But it does add a little spice to every month of the year and, hey, you might learn a little something too!

"The linden, in the fervors of July,
Hums with a louder concert. When the wind
Sweeps the broad forest in its summer prime,
As when some master-hand exulting sweeps
The keys of some great organ, ye give forth
The music of the woodland depths, a hymn
Of gladness and of thanks."
- William Cullen Bryant, Among the Treestime
Now let’s all wish these 21 contributors a happy birthday before it gets so hot that we all have to hide inside our homes!

Zodiac Sign (June 22nd – July 22nd) – Cancer
Under the ruling planet of the moon (yeah, yeah, I know it’s not a planet), this is the cardinal water sign of the zodiac, symbolized by the crab. This sign is well known for its moodiness, which may at first not seem very positive. Of course, it is true that crabs are prone to mood swings, over-sensitivity, clinginess, and indecisiveness. But it’s also important to count their strengths in balance. They are adaptable, make very loyal friends, can be very empathetic, and might be one of the most attached to home and domestic life of the zodiac. In fact, the home and the family may be one of the most important things in the life of a Cancer. They are masters of their castles and tend to ‘nest’ their living spaces to be enclosing and comfortable.
I think the most interesting aspect of this sign that I can find is that it’s deemed the most difficult to pin down in personality among the entire zodiac. Perhaps that’s due to their inherent emotional changes or their tendency to cover ranges in disposition. Either way, they are a unique bunch that are equally as likely to be caught whining up and down in a state of tantrum or contentedly day dreaming in a state of calm introspection. And while they are great friends to have, they also have a profound appreciation for solo time and solitude. Quite an intriguing sign.
Your main colors are cream, white, silver-blue, and smoky grey. The physical body parts that correspond to your sign (yes, the zodiac has body parts too) are the stomach and breasts. These may be areas of importance to you or areas you experience chronic issues with. Your flowers are the lily, lily of the valley, water lily, and white rose. Some famous Cancers include Meryl Streep, Ernest Hemingway, Bob Fosse, George Orwell, Ross Perot, Rembrandt van Rijn, Princess Diana, King Henry VIII, Abigale VanBuren, O.J. Simpson, Angelica Huston, Georgio Armani, and Robin Williams.
If you’re at the tail end of the month and don’t fall under this sign, no frets! We can’t do repeats for every month so your sign will be next month with August. But also keep in mind, for anyone who has even an inkling of interest in astrology, that the closer you are to another sign in birthday, the more characteristics you share with them.
This Month in History:

He died aboard a train while being transferred to a concentration camp.
