When using handcuffs, what do you prefer?

Contributor: unfulfilled unfulfilled
I have two kinds of cuffs the metal kind like police officers use and then the slip on your wrist kind that are red and black that could easily slip on off.

For yourself, if you use cuffs which do you prefer the ones that there's no way you're getting out of or the ones that give the illusion of being restrained and just slip on/off.

Informative topic breakdown of Hands free:

hand vs machine
which is better when?

Handle, yay or nay?
I love the idea of a handle for thrusting and maneouvering. Any opinions on this one?

Hand Job Techniques
I've had my technique down to a tee for a long time now, but I know some of us are less experienced and need a bit of inspiration. I found this great...

Suction handcuffs – handcuffs
do these hold good?

Handjobs?
Does anybody still just do handjobs without going down on the person or ending up having sex with their partner?

Not to be persnickity (sp?) but I always thought they were called handcuffs if you can't get out of them and restraints otherwise

I like my restraints to be inescapable or at least not easy to get out of, but I don't like metal cuffs because if you fight them you'll hurt yourself in ways you didn't want to be hurt. I like either leather cuffs, or rope, but preferably leather cuffs because they're more comfy.

Restraints should be inescapable, but quick and easy to remove by someone else.

if I'm with a trusted partner, I like to feel like I'm totally stuck

Yeah, I believe half the point of bondage is to give up control. If you can slip out of your restraints whenever you want to, it kind of defeats the purpose.

Not being able to get out myself definitely adds something for me.

Some handcuffs have a "safety release" which makes it so the wearer can get out on their own if needed.

I don't like to be able to escape and if there is a way out of them, I'll find it. I don't like knowing I can get out of them if I want to.

I like cuffs that look more realistic than novelty cuffs.

As I'm new to restraint play, I prefer ones that I can get out of.

I chose the second option. Mostly because I can be a little paranoid at times.

Always make sure the key has more than one copy and both are within reach and never leave a bound person alone. That said, traditional, real cuffs.

this is why I chose other, after a friend borrowed a pair intended for a costume(the key long gone) for non costume reasons and got stuck I reevaluated my stance on handcuffs, which I love, to think that a saftey release is for the best in non police related situations.

Ones that are very hard to get out of? Our Sportsheets velcro pair isn't impossible to get out of but it's hard to if you wrap them up tight.

I have some of the "play along" kind. I've never used the real thing. I, of course, trust my husband so I don't think it would really matter to me either way if I did have the real thing however.
