If you had to choose between ropes or ankle cuffs and ropes , which one would you choose?

To me, using rope requires some expertise, and time, to use. Shibari is beautiful to look at, but I just don't have the patience!

Basically. I'd rather it be ready to use in a heartbeat.

I said cuffs, but I love both depending on the circumstances

I am not a Girl Scout and I can not tie a knot that both looks good and that can be untied w/o a using a scissor.

Id have to agree rope involves some type of knowledge. I would go for the rope!

Cuffs, depending which ones, are most of the time more comftable. But ropes are more cheap and you can do much more with then! But also hard to learn... so - cuffs

Both! I love the look of cuffs, but rope is mega sexy and connective.

Heh, see avatar. A basic wrist or ankle bind literally takes less than a minute to tie properly. It's the more elaborate stuff that takes time. Plus with $100 worth of hand conditioned hemp bondage rope you can do much more than you can with $100 worth of cuffs. I do plan on getting some ankle cuffs though because I love the look of ankle cuffs and a spreader bar.

Here I am a little conflicted. I prefer to use ropes, this is because I have a lot of experience with them now and have done a lot of research. But in the beginning I would only use cuffs because they are a little safer when you don't have the experience.

If rope can include shoe laces, ties, sheets, rope, and any other "tie-able" thing, than I choose rope

And there's so much stuff you can do with it.. I can't even put my LUST for rope into words!

We prefer the cuffs/restraints. Mainly because that's all we've been exposed to. I picked up a nice set of leather cuffs years ago. They have worked out well!

Wrist and ankle cuffs, for speed, but I looooove ropes too

I agree. There was no option for both!

Cuffs for speed/ easy to use, rope for cost/ versatility.

Love rope play but from a practical perspective... you can have cuffs anywhere for quick use whether in the bedroom, car or even somewhere outside like a forest or deserted park somewhere.
So cuffs more practical
So cuffs more practical

I have to agree with Ropeguy. Cuffs for speed and rope for versatility.

with rope, you must know what you are doing. You must have scissors handy in case of emergency or safe word. silk ties create a great illusion for beginners who just want the "feeling" of being tied up.
I like the visual aspect of ropes in other ways then restraint.

it depends. sometimes if i'm more in an art mood then ropes, if i want to wire the sub up fast then cuffs.

Cuffs.

Cuffs...more convenient and more comfortable.

I don't actually own cuffs anymore. So by default I must go with rope; it's my favorite.

Cuffs are easier to use and a lot quicker although rope can be fun if your looking to do something different.

BOTH! I cant choose. they each have their usefulness. as ropes can be used on just about anything anywhere, and are readily available at just about any store. cuffs, (such as leather or other soft, sturdy material) are great, as they are much more comfortable, but a bit more limited than ropes, and cost a lot more. it is also much quicker to put someone in the cuffs than it is ropes.

Cuffs are easier to get on, easier to get off and a whole lot more comfortable. We have some hospital style fleece-lined cuffs that you can't wriggle out of, but don't cause any discomfort.

cuffs are a lot easier for those of us who are not good with tying knots

Rope requires too much thought and preparation. If there's anything my sex life needs less of, it's thought and preparation.

Shibari is beautiful, sexy and a bit complicated if you don't know what your doing. But the hubby and I love it! Yes, handcuffs are easier but we find ourselves always resorting to our rope stash...
