I have it in black. Agree with you completely about the softness and comfort.

It's a great beginner's rope, but once I bought my first piece of hemp rope, I couldn't use this anymore...hemp is a whole new world of awesome.

Really? Hemp sounds like it could be really stiff and rough.

Care to describe the differences in the rope? I'll admit we just use the standard hardware store nylon rope. So I'm not sure what the differences is in terms of rope compostion.

Hemp rope, when it's been properly treated, isn't that rough. Sure, it hasn't got the slickness of nylon rope, but this is actually a good thing for bondage! With nylon, you end up having to double up on your knots to make sure they don't slip loose. Hemp 'sticks' better to itself, so you don't have that issue.

While hemp rope is a little stiff when you first get it, that goes away with use, and I have come to crave it's texture against my skin.

I recommend Maui Kink's rope link, as well as Boss Bondage's link. I've been tied up with both, and my own (admittedly small) rope stash is composed of only Maui Kink's 6mm hemp.

Wow, for some reason the whole idea of homegrown Hawaiian kink makes me super happy inside. I'm in love with their handmade lychee-wood paddle

Anyway, back to the subject at hand - I'm interested by the DJ cotton rope. I like many other people love hemp, but my personal stash, as it were, consists of all nylon rope - considering adding DJ's to-die-for purple color of cotton to the stash.

I love this stuff. We ended up getting a length in black and a length in red that we cut into smaller pieces. Hemp is supposedly nice, but I'm allergic it seems.

It looks softer than most other ropes I've seen, but I haven't tried it (yet)

I would LOVE to try the purple one someday!!! I have yet to try any rope, so I would be a "rope virgin" along with my husband!!! I still have to even ask if he would be into it!!!

I think this would be an IDEAL first rope, but could someone please tell me:
a) if the ends are finished or not
b) the diameter of the rope (i'm not quite sure what a ".4 lb" rope is....)

Nylon is nice, but hemp is better if you can get it. Treat it well, and it tends to not slip as much, so you can do more elaborate ties

God, I love the marks it leaves, and as you say, they're really soft so I love them even more.

I'm really excited to try this too. I still can't decide on color though! I'll have to have my partner help me decide.

Once they have it back in stock in red, I am for sure trying it! Thinking it'll be a good stocking stuffer for the hubby!

Works well and stays soft. We have sent it to the washing machine a few times and it holds up well. Much softer than nylon or hemp.

I do not like this rope! Sadly the nylon from a hardware store works better! Ugh...
