Help me build a great BDSM collection for me and my husband!

Hi Eden friends!

I am not exactly hardcore (cock rings for my husband, for example, don't interest me, and I'm not into a lot of piercing), but I am not a beginner to BDSM either. I want to get lots of toys like floggers, paddles, blindfolds, gags, and even collars and leashes. I know I will have a great time with near all of these things.

The trouble is, I'm on a budget. Most of the kits on Eden are marketed at beginners and would be too tame for me. The restraints would be too easy to get out of, the materials of the blindfolds might not stand up to a lot of use, etc. How would you recommend getting the best bang for my buck? What toys should be at the top of my priority list? Any favorites you'd recommend?

I've known that I was a BDSM person since I was a teenager, but I have never really built a collection, so I'm starting from scratch.

Found an awesome kit deal that I could afford because of all the points I had saved up. Can't wait to do a review on all these things. It's not all the BDSM toys I want by a long shot, but it's a great starter kit.

You can improvise with some items. For a crop you can look at horse crops, usually cheaper at the farm places than sex stores. You can make a spreader bar from a wooden dowel with O ring screws from home improvement stores. Collars could be dog collars, clothes pins, let you imagination run wild while in stores shopping.

I love my Sportsheets interchangeable crop top system.

I second the idea of crops from tack stores, and collars and leashes from pet stores.
Scarves make great blindfolds and gags.
I've also found that independent craftsmen who are kinky themselves can be amazingly affordable. I don't live in a big city at all, but even out here there's a guy doing impressive leather work for very low cost.

Oh, and if you enjoy impact, don't forget about belts! Even with all the fancy toys we have, I still get belted pretty often . . .

Honestly, a belt would scare me a bit. I do enjoy pain, but I also bruise like a peach, and I'm on aspirin therapy, so if we aren't careful we could have a serious problem on our hands. We're going to have to experiment to see just how rough is as much as we can get away with.

Good point - I don't really bruise that easily and belts tend to bruise me more than most things. And I agree with being careful while on aspirin therapy!

Umm- total newbie question here. What is a spreader bar? (Hurries off to search on Eden and get points for doing so--points to go towards new toys, huzzah!)

I investigated spreader bars, as I promised I would , and definitely found something worth adding to my wish list.
