I have tried what I thought was my code and was told 000 would reset it. I've tried several times and it won't open.

I found my instructions. Apparently, if you forget your code there is no solution offered. It just says don't forget your code. I haven't had any problem with mine. I know other combo locks I had, you have to move the dials around several times then re-enter your code. It will help to get the tumblers back in line. 000 only works the first time, if you reset it then it won't work.

We had one as well, and I agree that there is no backup to forgetting your code. I second PP's suggestion to rotate the dials a bunch and then try the code you thought was the one. It can't hurt. Good luck.

Three spaced combination locks are easy enough to open if you're patient! I have "broken into" locked briefcases with different combinations on both sides in under an hour, but it depends on the combo and how you start, either at 000 or 999. There is absolutely no reason you can't find that combo with a little perseverance and time! Believe me, I have unlocked many a 3 and 4 number combination lock for my young nephew who always forgets his combinations and is fascinated with locks and resetting the combos, ugh.
You can simply start at 000 and work up in order as you would count, testing the latch each time you change a number. So you'd try 000, 001, 002, 003 and so on. Or, start at 999 and work backwards. The combination has to be a number from 000 to 999, so start twirling numbers, lol! It goes very fast in practice. You can always stop and write down where you left off, but I am always on a mission and won't stop until I get it to open.
I personally find another, more complicated, approach works faster for me, but I've used both and really, this "counting" method is easiest for most people to remember and perform without really having to pay much attention. It also makes stopping and starting again later on very easy.
Of course, trying any combos that represent birthdays or familiar numbers to you would be an easy first step, but I figure you probably already tried that before asking on here! It really does not take as long as you'd think, and if you do it while watching TV or listening to music, it goes by quickly. Good luck and please let me know if you try this and how it goes for you!
PS, yes, always do as the others have mentioned and tumble everything well before going to 000 to start.

I would start with 069. It seems to make sense.

Hopefully you won't have to smash it open. That would suck!

Any luck?
