Well I have had mine bound with rope to the point when they started turning a sort of reddish purple color but even though I do breast bondage on myself fairly often I haven't noticed any long term damage to them.

It left rope marks (to be expected though) and they were a little more pink than usual for a half an hour or so but went right back to normal.
