I want to get a collar but it's my first time. That doesn't mean I want a cheap, crappy one. I want a good one that will last, but is gentle to a someone just starting out. What do you suggest?

My first collar was something I bought for myself at a pet store.
I have the problem with jewelry close to my neck. I feel restricted and like I'm choking.
If you have this problem I recommend going to a pet store and buying a thin collar for small dogs and wear that to get used to the sensation of something around your neck like that.
Then buy something more expensive for yourself.

The Pink Candy Jaguar one is kinda cute, imo. If you're interested in that style, I'd say go for that one.

I don't have it yet, but I am dying to own the Crave Collared Nipple Clamp. You can remove the nipple clamps (which W/we will have to do till I am no longer nursing). But it is SOOOOO PRETTY!

If I'm going to get a collar I'll have it made for me. Length and width of my choice and even the colors I want down to the thread.

My wife loves her Ruff Doggie Styles Heart Beat Collar.
It is not as wide as most of the other collars, so it is more comfortable for her to wear. The sweet little pink hearts cut-outs along with the chrome spikes is powerfully sexy combo. She loves wearing it, when she is feeling both dominant or submissive.
