Have got some wonderfully soft and fluffy cuffs, and some rough metal handcuff styled ones too - and all in all it is hard to decide which I like the most: the cozy-like-a-dream plushy cuffs, the beautifully purple covered handcuffs or the metal cuffs for all four paws chained all together... ^^
What do you look for the most when it comes to cuffs? :)
Appearance or comfort? :)

What effects they are going to have, and sturdiness of course, then can come the look and price.

comfort for me
03/08/2012
I use cuffs for the point of being uncomfortable.....lol.
03/09/2012
I go with comfort, because I am the one wearing them. I do like to be a little uncomfortable, but if it is too bad it is all I can think about and I end up hating every second- no fun.

Quality/sturdiness and then comfort. Appearance is not one of the top concerns (though well made cuffs usually look good too).

I would go for comfort and then appearance.

Comfort for me.

Well-made-ness. I'm not sure cuffs are supposed to be comfy, exactly, but I do prefer them to be sturdy and well made enough that there aren't loose ends or unfinished edges to cause chafing or skin damage. That's just not sexy.

I think comfort is important. sturdiness would be second most important.
03/17/2012
Comfort would be the most important factor for the simple fact that discomfort can pull you out of the mood.

Comfort, but I like them to look nice too. Most of all, they need to be comfortable though.

Appearance. I love my black and red leather cuffs. The fact that they're comfortable and sturdy is a bonus.

i'd say comfort and sturdiness. we usually go with aslan so it's always comfy and sturdy, haha

I chose sturdiness, which could possibly mean they will be uncomfortable. In our bedroom, though, whomever is cuffed probably isn't cuffed for the purpose of feeling totally in control and comfortable anyway. I will admit, though, that mine are faux fur lined (I had a pair custom made). Also, both of our sets are pretty aesthetically pleasing as well. So while I go for sturdiness, I am willing to pay the price for looks in addition to good quality!

Comfort first

It depends on what you're into. I like feeling securely restrained more than I care about comfort.

Craftsmanship is very important and then comfort. I don't like the looks of furry cuffs, but well-made comfortable ones like the purple fur lined cuffs or the divinity cuffs work.
I have metal police locking cuffs too and those are quite fun. (not from here)

I look for a few different things.
First, I want something easy to use, and that I can get out of quickly if I need to. Second, I want something that's sturdy; no point in buying something that will just fall apart on me after a few uses. Third, yes I want something comfortable. And finally, I want something that looks appealing, too.

Quality, then comfort.

Quality but comfort is a close second.

Don't use them but if we did, it would be quality then comfort for sure.

Comfort, for sure!

Comfort
09/13/2012
Comfort, though sturdiness is also good
09/13/2012
Comfort, because usually comfort goes along with safety... Although sturdiness can be extremely important depending on what you're doing. But at this time in my life (beginner), comfort is where it's at.

This would go under ease of use probably, but what I was thinking of-ease to escape from if absolutely necessary if the keys get lost.

Price, yo. Broke college student here. The cheaper, the better. And from there, I look for things that are comfortable, safe, and decently attractive.
07/21/2014
Considering you could be wearing them for a while, comfort is a must.
09/07/2014
I voted for sturdiness! I do like some comfort, though, especially if it's a more cutesy and or formal set. ^_^

I said appearance, but that's not strictly true. Realism for whatever game I'm playing is most important to me. I don't mind being uncomfortable, if that's what the cuffs/situation calls for. I'd actually rather be uncomfortable than use furry handcuffs or anything like that. We do occasionally use some soft fabric cuffs when using the under-the-bed restraints, if it doesn't interfere with the role play.

For me it is sort of a tie for comfort and sturdiness. I have had some pretty weak cuffs that have broken in the middle of fun times. That was sad. Then I have had some that cut/bit into my skin and made me have to safe-word out because I couldn't focus on anything other than the pain of my wrists.

Quality with comfort. Appearance mostly gets in way.
09/15/2015
Comfort with Appearance. I need my partner to be comfortable. Without comfort the scene can't happen. Also appearance lends credibility to the set and also the scene therefore making the experience more believable. If the scene is believable then it is easier to enjoy the experience. Head games... you understand, right?

It really depends on what you're using them for and how. Different materials work better for certain situations, and metal isn't always the safest option. They should be comfortable to not deter from the fun being had by both parties involved. They should be sturdy enough to hold up to extended play in whatever regard you choose to use them. They should also be both safe to use for the intended activity and visually pleasing.
