Help picking harness

Contributor: harohunter harohunter
Hey, I got my partner a new dildo yesterday(John Holmes UR3), anyways she LOVES it and she said she wants to use it on me. She is average build. What harness is better? Double Strap or G string? Any recommendations for a Dill of this size?(10x2.5in)

For a first harness I strongly recommend a jock (double strap), as it provides a bit more stability when properly adjusted.

You're going to want a harness that offers replaceable O-rings, otherwise you're unlikely to find a harness that can hold that particular dildo. Offhand, I'd say get a metal O-ring rather than a rubber for your 2.5" ring so you have a bit more stability.

Comfort and adjustability are important for a harness that's going to be used for more than decorative purposes. Look for one without sharp edges on the straps and one that has adjustments on all of the straps (waist and both legs). Aslan, SpareParts and Outlaw Leather make some great harnesses, but they do tend to go for a premium. Consider it if you're likely to be using it for a long time (although the Commando is less expensive). Going one step down the Sportsheets harnesses are a good value - adjustable and not too expensive. You'll probably want a harness that you can adjust to hold the dildo high or low to see which she likes better (have her "jack off" a bit to see how various positions work). A lower positioning gives you more movement for each thrust and better clit stimulation, but a higher position (over the pubic bone/mons pubis) might give better control.

Since the dildo is porous condoms are a requirement if you're ever planning on her using it vaginally again, as there's no way to sanitize UR3.

Damn, Scott- great advice! My only addition would be that Aslan might be more comfortable and a better choice for a heavy dildo. I personally like the g-strap, and find it to be more secure/snug - but it depends on her preferences.

Thanks Scott for the quick reply!

I have been looking the Asian and outlaw but your right they do go for a premium. I am not sure how much I want to spend yet as I am still in the planning phase and I will ask my partner when she gets home. I would hate to buy a 100$ harness to only use it once, But I bet "you get what you pay for" and she may not enjoy a cheaply made harness.

I have been using Trojan Magnum XL's but they don't seem to be big enough and I have to "double wrap" because Ive had one break while just messing with it.

Any condom suggestions?

If I cant find a good condom ill just buy one for myself.

And we looked at them last night and said she never worn anything like a double strap but she said it looks kind of comfortable. She has worn G strings before but they were strings not straps.

Another thing things to keep in mind - you'll definitely want a metal ring for the John Holmes. Dildos without a lip or flare on the top slip through harness O-rings much more easily than dildos with a lip, so you'll want a ring that is pretty much the exact size of the dildo and stiff. While bringing the dildo with you to the hardware store would get you the best fit, it would be a bit embarassing so you might want to get a couple rings- one at 2.5" and one the next size up and down.

The important thing to look for is adjustability (on all straps) and smooth edges. You can get a pretty good $50-range harness that will last you for years if you're not sure about making the leap to a top-end Aslan, Sportsheets or Outlaw.

As for condoms I'm not sure - cleaning is one of the reasons I have mostly silicone toys, but I have nothing near the size of the John Holmes because silicone gets crazy expensive in toys that big.

I have seen some videos where they just put the suction cup through the oring and it had a solid backing plate which the suction cup stuck to. Granted it wasn't perfect no harness will probably fit perfectly and be hands free with a dildo of this size and weight.

I love silicone toys but alas I can buy 2 huge rubber dildos for the price of hoss. Maybe one day I can own Tantus Hoss....

Well I was told I only had 50$ dollars to spend which didnt leave me much room. I am going to go with the Latigo Leather Harness by Sportsheets since it has adjustable straps and removable orings. It had very good ratings and was at a good price.

If my partner and I like pegging I will probably treat her to nicer harness with something for her.

Can you take the whole length of the John Holmes? While you can peg without taking the whole dildo (she can wrap her hand around it to control penetration if you want), it seems so much more intimate when her hips can rest against your butt (or at least it is in my experience).

Have to agree with the hips and butt comment.

I'm close 7inches insertable. So that leaves 3in insertable and 2in of balls lnbetween my ass and her hips. I have smaller ones I'm going to try 1st so she and I can get the hang of it.
