You might want to do a few google searches, looking up the terms RACK (Risk Aware Consensual Kink), and SSC (Safe, Sane and Consensual). It might also be helpful to search the area in which you live and see if there are any BDSM groups. These groups often hold casual meetings called Munches, where kinksters can meet each other in a vanilla setting, and they might also hold classes where people new to the world of BDSM can learn about safety.
