Have you slept in a collar?

Is it safe to sleep in a collar? If so, should the collar be loose, tight, or made of any special materials?

I used to sleep in my leather collar all the time (before I discovered an allergy to the nickel studs in it...boo!). I think that if a collar is set to a certain size and has enough room to breathe and move sorta freely on the neck, it shouldn't be any problem to sleep in. Now, personally, I wouldn't want my collar tied to the bed or whatever while I sleep, but just wearing it wouldn't be a problem.

As long as it's not too tight I wouldn't worry about it.

As long as you can breathe freely it's fine!

Mine is leather, not too tight, but fitted. Never had a problem sleeping in it.

It's safe, but might not be the most comfortable.

I've never. I'm not certain on safety but why take a risk.

As long as it isn't too tight, I'd say go for it.

I haven't done it myself, but I didn't vote because it is more or less a personal comfort issue for me. I don't think there is any harm as long as it isn't too tight, because I have friends who do it all the time, one who has slept in a collar for at least 7 years that I've known her, and was doing it when we first met. Just don't leave it on too tight, because it might cut off circulation.

Yeah, I agree. Not too tight.

It should be no problem, just be sure you can breathe normally. Not that you'd wear a collar to the extent where you couldn't breathe all the time, but that's kind of obvious.

My leather collar is like an engagement ring to me (until my partner and I formally collar one another with traditional metal collars), so I wear it as often as possible, including to sleep.

The dangerous part is sleeping with a leash attached. As you roll the leash could get tangled around your neck. But most people agree a collar is very safe to wear while sleeping. Because it wont tighten any tighter. It is pretty much the same as wearing a necklace to bed.

My Mistress keeps me collared as much as possible (i.e., always while at home and She also makes me wear a discreet locking necklace at work and in public). I have a standard-ish looking slave collar that's not too tight, yet can't come off without being unlocked (not that I'd ever dare to do so!) It took some getting used to being collared throughout the majority of the day, but sleeping is no real issue after the first night or two.

I think it depends on the material of the collar.

I did this a couple of times, once just to see what it was like, another time because, just like XYCopperheadSly said, I was too lazy to deal with retrieving the key and unlocking it.

Definitely a weird experience, to wake up with a collar around your neck! My collar is leather with faux fur padding and it was comfortable (a little on the warm side, but not a problem).

I think it should be safe as long as the collar's not too tight and it's not attached to anything.
