I honestly have never had a safety word.
I'll play with people and we'll agree when we'll call it quits/ just understand that we can say "red light" and know what it means.
Although, sometimes I'll say "stop" or "no" and my top won't listen and will be like, "Ah, you haven't had enough yet." Yeah, I know that's bad, but... idk, it's not that big a deal to me. It makes me slightly skeptical of safe words, though. Just because you're saying "no" (in whatever form you are) doesn't mean someone's actually going to respect that

I use the red yellow green (or "stoplight") system with my partners.
Red means "stop what you're doing right now," yellow means "I can't take much more of this, please slow down/go gentler and check in with me," and green means "this is fucking fantastic, please don't stop."
It's straightforward, simple to remember, and easy to say. If someone doesn't respect my safe words, then we won't be playing again.

We pick something very off the wall, like "poindexter" or "algebra"--some word we'd never say accidentally. We use the word "mercy" to mean "I like what you're doing, but not quite so hard, please!"

Pokemon. It is our safe word for everything, even non-sexual things.

Cream Freshee. Probably did not spell the last word right, but my sweets can't get the word out of his head, soooo, we use that.
