I honestly would consider the idea of bondage with something more like rope over the idea of handcuffs because with handcuffs it seems to simplistic, and I prefer something more drastic, what do you think?

I hate handcuffs, but leather cuffs are ok. I prefer rope. The time it takes to make a good weave really builds anticipation.

Actually, handcuffs are just as old fashioned as rope. Though used in different parts of the world, I believe same time periods.
Anyway, I do not have a preference. Both serve their purposes well, and I like both.

I prefer rope over metal handcuffs. I've torn my wrists to shreds straining against cuffs during a scene. It's not exactly a fun thing. Besides, rope feels wonderful against the skin and leaves such pretty marks!

Really, I'm ecstatic about bondage of any kind.
Rope is fun and very versatile. I think aesthetically it's pretty damn hot as well. Cuffs could be fun in certain situations. All depends on what you are trying to do. No reason you can't mix it up and use both, depending on your mood.

Rope, though, has that lovely draw against the skin, the personalization of being hand-tied, and the sexiness of competence. I liked that moment when I realized that my husband's rock-climbing hobby translated over.

Rope is safer between the two, metal cuffs can tear into wrists if you thrash too much... Rope has a tendency to take more work than I like to tie it fancy, though, so plain soft cuffs are best of all. Neck Ties are also good.

I'm not wild about cuffs or collars, I find rope, though not necessarily erotic on its own, really soothing and enjoyable to work with. Tying partners up is a blast, and I enjoy how rope feels on my body much more -- the fact that whoever's tying can adjust tightness and positioning for comfort is a big plus for me.

I don't like handcuffs at all. Prefer leather restraint cuffs, rope, satin ties...just about anything besides handcuffs. They dont' have the same visual appeal, and are not comfortable. They are also not safe if they aren't easy to release, it's not like u can cut through them with scissors.

I can do leather cuffs, but we usually use rope. I have bad wrists/hands, so neither Dragon nor I can imagine trying to put something with no give around them. I need to be able to at least flex them easily or I'll be in the wrong kind of pain really quickly.

I prefer rope for a number of reasons, but I think that its versatility is one of its best qualities. Sure, handcuffs work if you just want to restrain wrists and ankles to each other or to bedposts and such, but I usually like my bondage a bit more complicated than that. Handcuffs just can't do thighs, upper arms, or chest harnesses and that's a pretty big con. Of course, I'd have no problem using handcuffs if it fit the scene better; I just have a strong preference for rope all things being equal.
