At first before I looked at the whole S&D thing, I thought in no freaking way submissive like that....allowing every person to tell me what to do. Am I right that the sub person chooses the dom?

While I'm not involved in that scene myself I somehow keep making friends with people who are XD.
The general consensus is essentially that the D may be the big powerful horse but the S is the one truly holding the reins.
Although all involved should be open and honest in their communication in regards to set up, during and aftercare so that everyone is having fun and feeling good.

This is a bit of a new area for my husband and I. One that I am probably more drawn to than him. I think I am more of a switcher. Reason being when she indicates that she wants to be dominated I am more than happy to fill that roll. And sometimes I like being dominated because I run a company and for some reason I dig it when she takes that roll.

I'm definitely not submissive, but I often like being dominated in bed. I don't think there's a term that truly fits me. Switch is about the closest term I've found in regards to fitting me. Sometimes I like to take a dominate role too, but I don't like my partner being submissive either.

Agreed!

I briefly considered the scene when I was single for a period... anyway think it's more of a spectrum but I lean towards being neutral to dominant. But totally agree that the idea that the S is truly in control seems totally true. And the only way I would likely engage my dominant personality in my personal life would be if my SO needed or wanted it. And it would all be to satisfy her desires and needs.

I tend to be the same way with most things... I'm perfectly content not needing to take leadership of things in work/life, but if the job isn't getting done I can take command and make things happen. Also a great skill for when emergency situations come up. Really helps to have the commanding tone mastered + a calm head in all situations.
