The Free Speech Coalition has called for a production moratorium and performer testing after an actor recently tested positive for syphilis. Right now, only one performer has tested positive but the Los Angeles County Public Health Department has announced an investigation into at least five possible cases of syphilis.

Personally, I love a good plug. I wanted to see what peoples preferences are.

Apparently, whoever was infected shot a scene either in Europe, or with a European performer, so the infection is no longer contained to American productions. I haven't heard anything yet about a moratorium on Euro porn production.

To the best of my knowledge, Europe doesn't have a Free Speech Coalition like the US, so there might not be a moratorium. I know that at least one production company (Dorcel's) is committed to safe-sex (condom-use), but syphilis can be contracted through direct contact with the sores, and a lot of unprotected oral takes place in porn.

Turned out it was Mr. Marcus. Disappointing as he's a 17 year veteran of the industry, he should know better than to play with the safety of other performers.

Always liked him too, girls seemed to be comfortable having him be their first interracial scene.

Where'd you find this? I'm reasonably sure it's accurate based on Mr. Marcus' twitter feed, but the Free Speech Coalition hasn't released any names and I don't know the whole story (on the twitter feed people are implying he lied about or hid it).

Sadly, there are now two confirmed cases and "the performer in the second case exclusively works on condom-only sets." link This is starting to look very scary.

ETA: Nevermind, found it on the AVN frontpage.

Mr. Marcus "admitted to submitting a test he altered that omitted his syphilis status to producers so he could perform in sex scenes, but said he had sought treatment already from a private doctor and had received a penicillin shot to treat the disease, and had waited a recommended period of time before performing again."

Not cool.
