This book is fantastic! When I learned I'd be receiving a book on fetishes to review, I was super-excited. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable when it comes to different sexual practices, and truly hoped this little volume would teach me something new. I was not disappointed! Although Fetish serves mostly as a quick overview and resource guide, there is a lot of information packed within its matte, black rubber covers. The inside is even more exciting, with each page sporting color photographs and naughty little black and white illustrations. My personal favorite is the two page photograph spread of a sub on his knees in a public bathroom, sucking on the big strap-on his Mistress is wearing. So hot! Fetish tends to focus mainly on S&M, but approaches every topic with an emphasis on healthy, safe and consensual sex. The book contains a wealth of information, covering everything from famous fetishists, to how to be a good Dom/Domme or sub, to bondage equipment, to clothing and fetish materials, with tips dispersed throughout each page. Do not overlook the little section on "Everyday Pervertables," which has many very good suggestions on items you can purchase easily and inexpensively to use for all kinds of sexual play. I also highly recommend checking out the "Fetish Dictionary," which gives a brief description of the slightly more unusual fetishes; everything from an appreciation of hairlessness ("Acomoclitic") to urine play ("Urophilia"). It can be quite interesting to learn about what turns some people on, even if the idea doesn't do it for you! The book rounds out its discussion of fetishes with sections devoted to fetish in the arts, whether it is through film, illustrations, or novels. Finally, the last few pages cover the many different resources available to you in order to explore an idea that turns you on. Because this book devotes only a small section to each topic, I think it is best for an absolute beginner or the slightly seasoned amateur. Even if you're not sure you'd be into pony, rope, or gender play, it's worth checking out this book just to get a better idea of what other people love to do to get off!
